SUMMER EDITION 2008

Welcome to our Summer PC Update News!

Our fresh, new-look Dulux PC Update heralds the launch of our new Aquaculture Grade Polyurea coating Flexituff ACG. This variant of our tried and proven Flexituff product aligns to an international formulation for genuine polyurea linings used globally in a variety of installations where contact with marine life occurs. Prior to its launch, the product was independently tested and found to be not harmful to the larvae introduced to the lined vessel. Subsequently a tank was done which will serve for commercial aquaculture.

On a personal note, I would like to inform you that I will be relocating to New Zealand to become part of the Dulux business team. I have had a fantastic time leading Dulux's Protective Coatings Business and with my team, having enjoyed some great successes. The one thing that is different about Protective Coatings from other paint type materials is you are constantly surprised about where and how your products are used to add value to so many structures.

We can all hope that we leave the place better than how you found it. With the team at Dulux, I am confident we have achieved this and I am sure they will continue to add to your knowledge of Protective Coatings and the industry. However it is the effect of so many people I have met, both in my time in Dulux's Australian Business as well as our customers, engineers and architects and industry identities that have had a positive effect on me and helped shape my views on business and this great industry. For this you have my sincere appreciation. I look forward to keeping in touch with what is happening in Dulux's Protective Coatings Business through the future editions of PC Update.

ASX Announcement From Orica

Orica Defers the Demerger of Consumer Products Business Indefinitely

The Orica Board recently announced that in light of the extreme volatility currently being experienced in equity and financial markets, it will defer the proposed demerger of its Orica Consumer Products business indefinitely.

While the Board believes the strategic rationale for the demerger remains sound, it considers the deferral to be appropriate in the current financial market environment.

Orica Consumer Products remains an important business platform within Orica, and will continue business as usual. This decision will have no direct impact on employees within the business.

Dulux Protective Coatings will keep you, our business partners, informed with any developments.

Q. Hi Michael. How would you define your new role?
M. Exciting (so far)

Q. What did you do in your previous role?
M. I worked in the Research and Development laboratory for 13 years formulating high performance protective coatings. So I understand protective coatings inside out!

Q. What do you do to relax?
M. Refereeing soccer matches and spending time with my family (two children).

Q. What is your favourite PC product, and why?
M. I love Quantum FX!!! It's sparkly - like me!

Q. If you had the opportunity to paint a national icon, what would it be, and with what?
M. Parliament House, Canberra. I'd paint it top to bottom in Quantum FX, in the colour FX41/072 (gold)
